Q: How can I visit my loved one while they are incarcerated?
A: The Chesterfield County Detention Center currently utilizes video visitation for all pre-trial and special management inmates. This visitation is made possible through Securus Video Visitation. Driving to the detention center to visit isn’t always possible, so Chesterfield County Detention Center now provides at-home video visitation. Family members and friends can visit with their incarcerated loved ones from the comfort of home, office, or any location that is equipped with high-speed internet, PC and webcam. Family members and loved ones schedule video visits online according to a pre-approved schedule and the inmate is notified of the scheduled visit in advance and will be able to check in at the time of the visit.
Sentenced inmates visit on-site as follows:
Visitors are required to have a valid state issued identification card. Children are permitted to visit the fourth full weekend of the month.

Pre-trial inmates are those inmates that have not been sentenced by the courts, they are awaiting trial. Sentenced inmates are those inmates that have received a sentence by the courts and are working off their time. Special management inmates are those inmates that require accommodation because of federal mandate.
Q: How can I give my loved one money and how can I write them?
A: Money can be added to an inmate’s account at any time if you come to the detention center and use the lobby kiosk. The kiosk accepts all bills, except one dollar bills and does not accept any coins. You may also mail in money orders to your loved one. Address money orders to the inmate c/o of CCDC.
The detention center does not accept cash. Inmates letters may be mailed to 319 Goodale Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709, addressed to the inmate.
Q: Can I leave a message for an inmate?
A: Detention staff is not allowed to deliver messages to an inmate.
Q: What can you tell me about an inmate’s charges and their case?
A: Detention Center staff is only permitted to tell you that information which is public information. You can be told if an inmate is in custody, what the inmate's charges are and what the inmate bond is. Release dates must be obtained from the inmate directly.
Q: Can I bring snacks or other items to an inmate?
A: You may not bring anything to an inmate, other than money, which is deposited on the kiosk, prescription eyewear that must be approved by medical and any non-narcotic medications that the inmate is currently taking.
Q: I am concerned about my friend or family member health, while they are incarcerated, will they be able to get medical attention?
A: The mission of the Chesterfield County Detention Center is to provide the delivery of comprehensive health care services to individuals detained in the custody of the detention center. The medical program ensures the provision of emergency, acute and basic medical/mental health care services to all inmates in a timely manner; taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of communicable and contagious diseases while maintaining a stable health status for inmates. Inmates may request sick call services through use of a kiosk in their housing unit or by written request.
